Task 1: The use of ICTs in Secondary Education

Technology is essential in nowadays society, therefore, it should be included in classrooms. It is not only important to motivate our students, but also to change the typical teaching methodologies in a classroom. 

Regarding the official requirements for English on secondary education, the official curriculum is organized into four main sections: Understanding oral texts, Production of oral texts: expression and interaction, Understanding written texts, Production of written texts: expression and interaction and Transversal elements to the subjects. In order to accomplish all of them, the legal framework distinguishes seven key competences: the linguistic and the communicative competence, mathematical competence together and the basic competences in science and technology, personal, social and learning competence, the social and civic competence, the initiative taking and entrepreneurship, the cultural awareness and expression and last but not least, the digital competence. As we can see, in Spain the teachers have to include ICTs in their subjects since it is one of the key competences. 

The use of the ICTs improves students' thinking skills, leaves our students better prepared for their future and provides creative options to express their understandings. One of the most important ideas to comment is that they are connected to the real world.  This is why a good way to improve our students' efficiency is introducing technology in the classroom.
